Amyloidosis Australia is a website run by a family in Australia which was affected by Amyloidosis, a rare protein folding disorder. The website is meant to provide information, and support for anyone in Australia or New Zealand also affected by Amyloidosis. Amyloidosis Australia grew out of the Reid family’s experience of living with the disease (Primary Amyloidosis) for many years.
The Reid family do not claim to be medical experts, but they have gained an extensive amount of information about Amyloidosis from their own personal research of medical journals, books, and attendance at the Amyloidosis Symposium (France) April 2004, the International Myeloma Workshop (Sydney) May 2005, the Amyloidosis London Seminar June 2005 at the Royal College of Physicians, the Nov 2006 Amyloidosis Symposium (Boston) and associated Patients Day, and the Mayo NZ Haematological Education Seminars. They have also held Support Group Meetings for Amyloidosis in Australia, attended some in Europe, as well as attending those for Myeloma and Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia.logo
